Who on earth is Smearny?

A long time ago, a kid was watching the Muppets. The Swedish Chef sang his famous nonsense song — and the kid heard it his own way:

"Smearny mearny mearny mearny, morph morph morph morph!"

His mom laughed so hard she started calling him Smearny. That was almost fifty years ago. He's a grown-up now — and she still calls him Smearny.

That's the whole secret of this place: the best nonsense sticks with you forever. So we write riddles the same way — silly on the outside, sneaky-smart on the inside, made to be read out loud until somebody snorts.

"Smearny mearny
mearny mearny,
morph morph morph morph!"

— a very famous chef, as heard by one particular kid
